Washington Trails Association Events

A couple events from WTA

TrailsFest 2009 - Saturday July 18, Rattlesnake Lake (near North Bend WA)

TrailsFest has it all - hiking, paddling, gear, safety, trip planning - and so much more. Attend at a clinic on wilderness first aid, or hiking with kids, or backcountry cooking. Take a guided hike, tie a fly on, look for birds, paddle a kayak or climb a rock wall. Visit dozens of exhibitors, like your favorite gear companies and environmental groups. It’s all at TrailsFest!

TrailsFest Activities - click here for the complete schedule of every clinic, excursion, hands-on demo, and activity to try at TrailsFest 2009.

TrailsFest Exhibitors - check out which environmental groups, nature organizations, gear companies and agencies will be on hand at TrailsFest with fun, informative booths for you to visit.

TrailsFest isn't exactly local for us in the Portland area, but still worth checking out. It would make a fun camping weekend.

Hike-A-Thon 2009 - August 2009 (fundraising has already begun)

Planning on hiking this August but wishing you could also find time to help protect the trails you love? Participate in WTA's Hike-a-Thon and you can do both at the same time!

Simply register online now to participate in Hike-a-Thon and create your Hike-a-Thon webpage. Then start collecting pledges and hike, hike, hike all August long! Fundraising dollars and mileage logs will be checked, tallied and counted at month's end. You and your sponsors will be invited to a celebration where we'll hand out prizes and share our funniest, and most spectacular Hike-a-Thon stories while we toast to our success!

My fundraising page is here.

Volunteer Opportunities
- Summer
Washington Trails Association schedules more than 600 work parties each year, contributing 80,000 hours of trail work to the US Forest Service, National Park Service, Washington Department of National Resources and Washington's state and county parks.

You don't need to have any prior experience (or be particularly strong) to join one of our Trail Teams - just sign up for a work party and we'll do the rest.
